Conmebol held today, in Luque, Paraguay, the draw of the groups for the 2024 Libertadores.
Seven Brazilian teams will be present: Fluminense, which is the current champion, along with Palmeiras, Flamengo, Grêmio, São Paulo, Atlético-MG and Botafogo, all of them representing Brazil.
Unlike the Copa Sudamericana, where Brazilians also have a strong presence, in this group stage of the Libertadores there will be no clashes between teams from Brazil.
Botafogo, having qualified through the pre-Libertadores, could potentially fall into a group with another Brazilian, but ended up being drawn into Group D, along with LDU (Ecuador), Junior Barranquilla (Colombia) and Universitario (Peru).
During the event, Alejandro Domínguez, president of Conmebol, announced an increase in Libertadores prizes.
Now, each victory will earn the teams 330 thousand dollars, and the champion of the competition will receive 23 million dollars just for winning the final.
Furthermore, before the Libertadores draw, Conmebol also defined the groups for the Copa Sudamericana, where seven Brazilian clubs will participate: Corinthians, Cruzeiro, Internacional, Bragantino, Fortaleza, Cuiabá and Athletico-PR.
Even more, the event paid tribute to two important figures.
Firstly, one of them went to Osvaldo Domínguez Dibb, historic leader of Olímpia-PAR and father of the current president of Conmebol, Alejandro Domínguez, who passed away last month.
Furthermore, the other tribute went to Enzo Francescoli, a former Uruguayan player who won the Libertadores once and the Copa América on three occasions.

Initially, the round of 16 will feature the top two teams from each group. The initial stage will take place from April 2nd to 4th (first round) and from May 28th to 30th (last round).
The round of 16 is scheduled to take place between August 13th and 22nd, the quarterfinals from September 17th to 26th, and the semifinals from October 22nd to 31st.
The grand final will be in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on November 30, with the venue for the single game yet to be determined.
The group draw was based on a pot division system, where the 32 teams were divided into four pots according to the Conmebol ranking.
Furthermore, the clashes were organized to prevent teams from the same country from facing each other in the group stage, except for teams that came from the preview, such as Botafogo, which could be placed in the same group as a compatriot.
In the dispute format, each team will play six matches in the group stage, two against each opponent in the group, following a round-trip system.
The top two in each group advance to the round of 16, while the third-placed team advances to the Copa Sudamericana.
The knockout matches will be played over two games, with the exception of the final, where the away goals criterion will not be applied.
Furthermore, Conmebol also announced a significant increase in prize money for participating clubs, which makes the competition even more attractive and competitive.
