Finally, Conmebol announced the complete schedule of games and broadcasts for the 2024 pre-libertadores, revealing that Botafogo and Red Bull Bragantino will represent Brazil in the second stage of the tournament.
In addition, broadcasting rights in Brazil will be held by TV Globo, ESPN and Paramount. However, broadcaster Globo chose to broadcast Botafogo's games in phase 2.
However, the Rio team's opponent has not yet been defined, as the recent draw indicated that the match will be against “E2”, representing a clash between Aurora-BOL and Melgar-PER from the first phase.
Botafogo's matches are scheduled for February 21st and 28th, both Wednesdays, at 9:30 pm (Brasília time).
Surprisingly, the Conmebol table does not mention TV Globo as responsible for the broadcast, instead indicating Globoplay and the ge website.
However, this scenario already occurred in the previous edition, when the broadcaster chose to only broadcast Atlético-MG games online, so as not to interfere with the programming due to Big Brother Brasil.
However, Globo ended up showing two preliminary round matches on open TV.
However, in addition to Globo, Disney (ESPN and Star+) will also show the Botafogo matches, using their paid platforms.
Paramount+, with its secondary package in paid media, will have total exclusivity for Red Bull Bragantino matches against Águilas Doradas-COL.
These games are scheduled for February 20th and 27th, both Tuesdays, at 9:30 pm.
Furthermore, in the knockout format, Globo will have the prerogative of choosing just one game to broadcast on the round trip.
On the other hand, in paid media, ESPN and Paramount will alternate choices, with ESPN having preference in the first option.
Globo also holds the rights to broadcast the pre-libertadores in the first phase, which does not feature Brazilian teams.
For these games, the broadcaster will use Globoplay and ge to show the clashes that will define Botafogo's opponent in the next phase.
The matches between Aurora and Melgar will take place on February 7th and 14th, Wednesdays, at 9:30 pm.
Furthermore, phase 3 broadcasts will only be determined after the four clashes have been defined.
If Botafogo and Red Bull Bragantino advance in the first dispute, the two Brazilian clubs could find themselves in the search for a place in the group stage of the Libertadores, which already has Fluminense, São Paulo, Palmeiras, Grêmio, Atlético-MG and Flamengo as representatives of Brazil.
